DOHA: Qatar Satellite Company, Es’hailSat, is taking part in the ongoing annual IBC conference and exhibition at RAI in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
IBC is the premier event for the global broadcast, content delivery, digital media and satellite sectors.
Es’hailSat is showcasing Es’hail-1, which is broadcasting high-quality, premium high definition content from the key Mena broadcast hotspot of 25.5°/26° E, said a statement yesterday.
In addition to providing transmission and expansion opportunities for established news and sports channels, a growing number of local and regional Arabic channels are choosing Es’hailSat to launch their services in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena). Es’hail-1 also supports VSAT and maritime services on its Ka-band payload.
With Es’hail-2 scheduled to join Es’hail-1 at the hotspot in 2017, Es’hailSat is implementing products and services to be launched on Es’hail-2 when it becomes operational. With high-powered beam covering Mena, Es’hail-2 is well positioned to provide broadcasters with the ideal platform to distribute their content across the region.
With a commitment to provide broadcasters with secure and independent satellite transmission, Es’hailSat has started building its teleport which will be operational in 2017. The facility north of Doha will support TT&C and capacity management for Es’hailSat satellites, together with teleport services such as uplink, downlink, turnaround, multiplexing, encoding and playout.
The high-tech teleport will also provide back-up studios for TV channels, serve as a disaster recovery facility for broadcasters, and will be linked with key media broadcasters by a redundant, dedicated fiber optic link.
Ali Ahmed Al Kuwari, President and CEO, Es’hailSat, said, “With Es’hail-2 and our teleport coming online in 2017, we have been scaling up on marketing and sales efforts, and IBC is an ideal platform for us to showcase our capabilities and service offerings in the international arena.
“We believe we have the optimum solutions to support broadcasters in Mena and beyond in terms of technical capabilities, performance, and security of content.
“We see this exhibition as an important element in our strategy to attract international customers who value broadcasting independence and quality of service,” he added. The event ends on Tuesday.
