DOHA: Municipal authorities have intensified inspections on food outlets, bakeries, beauty salons and laundries ahead of Eid Al Adha to ensure that they abide by the health and safety regulations.

The inspection drive began early this month. Inspectors are working in two shifts (morning and evening) and they will cover outlets all over the country, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday.

Eateries and outlets selling sweets, dry fruits, fruits and vegetable are the primary targets of the campaign. Laundries and beauty salons will also be under tight inspection.

However, during  Eid Al Adha, inspections will focus mainly on the slaughterhouses. Veterinarians will be assigned at abattoirs from October 14 until third day of Eid Al Adha.

Health inspectors at Al Khor and Al Zakhira municipalities made 455 visits to the commercial outlets over the past ten days, the daily said, quoting an  official of Al Khor municipality.
