Doha: To mark the fourth edition of the Street Child World Cup 2022 (SCWC 2022), the British Ambassador to the State of Qatar, HE Jon Wilks CMG welcomed the 28 Teams of the SCWC 2022 to a reception held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, on October 10.
Around 500 guests joined the reception, including Ambassadors of the qualifying nations, Co-Founder and CEO of UK Charity ‘Street Child United’ John Wroe, and representatives from Qatar Foundation, to celebrate the power of sport to provide a global platform for street children.
HE Jon Wilks CMG said: ‘My Embassy and I have been delighted in recent years to support the fourth Street Child World Cup in Doha. We have been inspired by the participating children from all over the world, impressed with the organisation of the event by UK Charity Street Child United and honoured by the huge support received from Qatar Foundation and all our Qatari friends who have played a part in making this great event happen. The positive impact of the Street Child World Cup on the participating children and advocates of the cause of Street Children I have no doubt will be an important part of the legacy of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. We will be cheering all the Street Child teams on in the next few days and wishing them all the best as stars of the future."

The Street Child World Cup 2022, hosted in partnership with Qatar Foundation, welcomes 28 teams from 25 countries for a week of football, art and child-friendly congress sessions to shine a spotlight on some of the world’s most vulnerable children.
Countries represented at the SCWC 2022 are Bangladesh, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Burundi, Colombia, Egypt, England, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Mauritius, Mexico, Nepal, Palestine, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Sudan, Syrian Forum, Tanzania, Uganda, USA, and Zimbabwe.
