Qatar index closes lower with 0.1pc dip

Doha: Qatar stock index dropped 13.45 points, or 0.11 percent, when the bourse closed at 12,339.87 points yesterday.
The traded value declined to QR411.35m from QR554.92m registered on Tuesday. The traded volume decreased to 7.39 million shares from 5,281 transactions compared to 11.67 million shares from 6,904 transactions on Tuesday.
Indices of telecommunications sector gained 1.64 percent while banks and finance sector was up 0.41 percent to 3,180.34 points.
Indices of all other sectors ended in the red with consumer goods declining the most with 1.65 percent drop. Transport index dropped 1.50 percent, while real estate dropped 1.09 percent.
From the 43 listed companies, shares of 40 exchanged hands. From these, 23 went down and 11 gained while six remained unchanged. 
Ahli Bank share jumped 4.67 percent to QR56, while Qatar Islamic Bank share gained QR1.80 when it closed at QR100. 
Ooredoo share closed at QR117.90, up 2.70 percent and Widam Foods share dropped 4.33 percent when it closed at QR59.50. 
Most stock markets in the Gulf stabilised after falling sharply earlier in the week in response to oil’s slide, but Saudi Arabia’s equities index dropped again, wiping out the remainder of its gains this year. QNA/Reuters
