Qatar Museums to host events at Al Zubarah

DOHA: Qatar Museums is hosting a number of events and activities at the historic Al Zubarah World Heritage Site to celebrate Qatar’s culture and diverse heritage starting this National Day.
To mark Qatar’s National Day, different community institutions will present performances and displays of Qatar’s heritage starting today until Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
The Ministry of Culture, Art and Heritage will present Al Arda performance, a traditional dance by Qatari men. The Doha Youth Centre will display marine handicrafts, including splitting shellfish displays and netting among others.
Qatari artist Abdurrahman Al Mulla will showcase marionette traditional crafts while Amel Al Ali will have an exhibition showcasing traditional garments and gold jewellery. Ibrahim Bin Ali Centre will have a display of local fish models from Qatar and the region.
Visitors will also have an opportunity to dress up like Qataris and have their photographs taken in a traditional setting.
Live demonstrations of the most common falcons in Qatar will also be held in partnership with the Al Gannas Association. The demos will be held from today until Saturday from 10am t0 5pm and on March 6 from 3pm to 5pm, during which visitors will be introduced to the falcons and their names. There will also be an exhibition of paintings and artistic models of the most common falcon species, as well as live demonstrations.
Every Friday and Saturday until April 30, visitors will be able to witness live demonstrations of old handicraft-making traditions, such as Sadu making, and savour Qatar’s traditional cuisine to the tune of traditional rhymes and songs. There’ll also be the chance for camel riding and to visit the archaeological site. These will be held from 3pm to 5pm on Fridays and 10am to 5pm on Saturdays.
