West End Park to host six-nation cricket tourney

DOHA: The Organising Committee of Associated Activities for Qatar National Day (QND) celebrations 2014, will host a mega cricket tournament on December 18, at the Cricket Stadium in West End Park.
Six teams — Qatar, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka — will take part in the tournament. The committee announced that the winners will be awarded a champions trophy and cash prize worth QR7,000, the runners up QR4,000 and the third placed team will get QR 3,000.
All participating teams will be honoured with prizes worth QR 2,000 as well.
Speaking to the media Ft. Lt. Shahin Rashid Al Atiq from Public Relations Department said that the committee is  keen to be an active and distinct participation of the communities in the National Day celebrations. 
He extended his wishes and thanks to all cooperating figures and volunteers from the communities. The represen tative of Qatar steel expressed their pleasure to sponsor the cricket event which is held as an associated event of Qatar National Day.
The associated cultural and sports events of the National Day celebrations 2014 will be held in four venues by different communities. Indian and Sri Lankan communities will perform in West End park, while Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities will participate in Al Wakra sports club. 
The events by Filipino, Malaysian and Indonesian communities will be performed in Rayyan sports club whereas the Nepalese community will participate in Al Khor along with Al Khor community.
