DOHA: Four more emerged winners as the sixth round of Hudud Al Tahaddi Challenge ended yesterday at Sabkhat Marmi near Sealine.
Despite the drop in temperature, many people came to watch the event, a popular and important highlight of the sixth edition of Qatar Falcons and Hunting Festival.
Salman Saleh Al Ghanem, Meshlesh Issa Al Msaifri, Saleh Jaber Al Qashouti Al Marri and Ali Said Al Marri won QR100,000 and a chance to win a Lexus in the final round.
“I also participated in the challenge last year and qualified for the final round,” said Al Ghanem.
Al Marri said he was delighted that his falcon was able to corner the homing pigeon in the challenge, thereby progressing to the final round.
On measures taken by organisers to make the festival exciting to visitors, Said Al Naimi, member of the organising committee, said, “The panel is working hard for organising events, receiving spectators and participants, providing booklets on the festival and detailing events in English and Arabic, which can be a great help to those new to this aspect of our cultural heritage.”
He said organisers distributed souvenirs to visitors and would continue to do so, as this could serve as a reminder of their experiences they could share with friends and families.
He said the number of residents and tourists visiting the festival was high, especially during the weekend, when they flock to the venue in their spare time.
Visitors from Qatar and other GCC states also turned out in large numbers to watch the events.
