DOHA: Qatar Airways (QA), the official airline sponsor, and Qatar Duty Free (QDF), the official retail sponsor of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2015, congratulate David Ferrer, winner of the annual men’s international tennis tournament held at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
Reprising its position as the official airline partner of the tournament, QA has had the privilege to bring many top names in tennis to Doha. Besides Ferrer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Tomas Berdych were among the star players at the Open (January 5-10), enticing thousands to watch as they competed for the title.
The Open 2015 is part of the ATP World Tour and the first tournament of the season.
QA invited spectators to its pavilion and offered them the opportunity to have their photographs taken against the Doha skyline, or the Airbus A350 XWB or the Airbus A380 and gave a print of the photographs as a gift.
Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive, QA, said: “QA was proud to continue its role as a key sponsor of the event, bringing world-class players to Qatar for another season of dynamic tennis, and this year’s tournament was just as thrilling. “As the event goes from strength to strength, we are delighted to continue our support, and enable fans to enjoy this great sporting spectacle.”
QDF also set up a pavilion in the public village within the complex, and showcased items, including apparel, bags, jewellery, sunglasses, confectionery, souvenirs and electronics at duty-free prices. Customers who purchased goods worth QR350 or more received a gift.
“QDF was again excited to be part of the event, as we welcomed leading players on the men’s circuit to battle it out with some entertaining tennis,” said Keith Hunter, Senior Vice-President, QDF. “The tournament always brings in fans from Qatar and overseas and is a highlight on the QDF annual calendar of events.
