Doha, Qatar: Birla Public School successfully hosted its 22nd Annual Sports Day for Kindergarten and Primary students at the Aspire Dome on January 10, 2026, marking a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and physical fitness.
The event brought together the stake holders of Birla Public School for a day filled with enthusiasm, discipline, and memorable performances.
The occasion was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Femi Seun Ogunode, an Arab and Asian Champion as well as a World Bronze Medallist. The event was formally declared open by H E Vipul, the Ambassador of India to Qatar marking the official commencement of the sporting events.
Adding dignity to the opening ceremony were members of the school management and leadership, including Board of Directors Gope Shahani, Management Representative Chindhu Antony, Principal Dr. Anand Nair, Vice Principal Ms. Edna Fernandez, along with the Headmistresses of the Kindergarten and Primary sections and Headmaster of Discipline and Activities. The programme commenced with a warm welcome by the Sports Captains of Primary 1 and Primary 2, followed by an impressive opening ceremony. A meticulously coordinated March Past by the four student houses—Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune—along with the Student Council members, Cubs and Bulbuls, Beavers and Brownies, showcased discipline, unity, and school pride as they marched in perfect synchrony to the rhythmic beats.
This was followed by the oath-taking ceremony, led by the Sports and House Captains of the Primary section, reaffirming the values of integrity, fair play, and sportsmanship.
In a symbolic tribute to the Olympic spirit, Director, Gope Shahani passed the ceremonial torch to the school’s young sports achievers. The torch was carried forward by ten student achievers who have represented Birla Public School and won laurels at various sporting events, inspiring their peers to pursue excellence in sports.
Welcoming the gathering, Principal, Dr. Anand Nair highlighted the broader significance of sports, emphasising their role in character building, discipline, and holistic development. In her address, Chindhu Antony, Management Representative, appreciated parents and teachers for recognising the importance of sports and for encouraging children to actively participate in games and physical activities.
The Aspire Dome echoed with excitement as students presented a series of well-coordinated drills, gymnastic displays, and sporting demonstrations. The kindergarten students captivated the audience with their colourful drills and novelty races, reinforcing the importance of physical activity from an early age.
