Emir, Heir Apparent and Premier greet Iran president

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani sent a cable of greetings to the President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of Islamic Revolution in Iran. The Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani also sent greetings to President Ahmadinejad.

Labour Ministry takes erring companies to task

 
DOHA: The Ministry of Labour last month suspended transactions of eight private companies for violating rules related to work site safety and hygiene.
The Inspection Department at the ministry conducted 320 raids to check whether they complied with regulations related to workers’ health and safety.
The ministry issued warnings to 231 erring companies to rectify the errors within a given time, according to a report posted on its website. 
At least 95 companies were  re-inspected and action was taken against two for failure to correct the mistakes within the deadline.
The department’s inspectors visited work sites and headquarters of 795 companies and 27  were found violating some provisions of the Labour Law.
The department received 12 complaints from workers and took immediate action.

Jakarta: Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Marzuki Alie met yesterday Qatar’s Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad bin Khater Al Khater. They reviewed bilateral ties in the political and investment fields.
