DOHA: The GCC states have jointly prepared a draft law which, once enforced, would focus on safety measures on sea beaches and swimming pools in the region so people don’t drown.

The draft was yesterday discussed by the economic and financial committee of the Advisory Council, Qatar News Agency reported.

The  council held its weekly session under Speaker H E Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi.

Secretary-General Fahd bin Mubarak Al Khayareen read out the agenda.

The council again reviewed the issue of unification of holidays of schools and Qatar University.

It also discussed a request for a general discussion on traffic congestions on the roads in the city of Doha, and decided to forward it to a joint committee composed of the Public Services and Utilities and Domestic and Foreign Affairs committees to study it and submit a report.
