DOHA: To coincide with the second National Sports Day celebrations, the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee and Qatar Statistics Authority will be conducting opinion polls among nationals and expatriates on the design of sport facilities that will host matches for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™ in the municipality of Al Wakra.

H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jabor bin Jassim Al Thani the President of the Qatar Statistics Authority and Chairman of Qatar 2022’s Legacy Committee, along with Saud Al Attiyah, Legacy Director for the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee, are leading community engagement on stadium design, both in Al Wakra and throughout the State of Qatar.

This initiative reflects the Qatar Statistics Authority’s (QSA) and the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee’s (Q22) commitment to enhancing the community’s participation in the run up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar ™.

The QSA President and Q22 Legacy Director called on nationals and expatriates who are residing in Al Wakra to participate in this poll to gauge the community’s desires and views on all World Cup sport facilities to be built in the municipality.

These surveys do not only provide necessary feedback to aid the decision-making process, but also provide the foundation for a sustainable legacy. And, thereby, ensure that there are no ‘white elephants’ post-2022 and that these facilities have enduring use post-tournament – for the community, for commerce and for sport.

Residents of Al Wakra can participate in the opinion poll by visiting the QSA website.

Moreover, on the occasion of the State of Qatar’s celebration of National Sports Day, the Statistics Authority and the Supreme Committee hope these polls inspire the residents of Al Wakra to think of ways in which these facilities can help the community to become physically active and improve overall well being in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
