DOHA: The Ministry of Interior has plans to lower the fee it charges for inspection of fire safety measures in buildings.
The inspections are conducted by the ministry’s Civil Defence (CD) Department. It is only after these inspections that the CD issues occupancy certificates for new buildings and clearances for renewal of shop, office and industrial licences.
The State Cabinet yesterday approved a draft decision of the Interior Ministry that seeks to amend some provisions of an earlier ministerial decision (Number 19 of 2007) regulating the fee structures of the ministry for the various services it provides to the public.
The idea behind the draft decision is to reduce the fee for fire safety inspections in buildings, including homes, offices, shops and industrial units, among others.
