Sport Day marked with fervour

DOHA: Government agencies and private firms joined hands to celebrate National Sport Day (NSD) by organising and participating in a wide range of activities and competitions.
Ezdan Holding Group held sporting events for its employees at Ezdan Al Shamal Compound. Activities included football championship involving eight teams representing various departments of the group.
Ezdan Hotels and Ezdan Mall also organised events for the public. Ezdan Real Estate held open sport competitions for residents of its housing complexes.
Doha Bank was among the top participating institutions in the annual 3km run hosted by Qatar Central Bank (QCB) to mark the day.
A total of 168 Doha Bank staff, including members of the senior management team, took part.
Doha Bank was presented with the Crystal Trophy for the results posted by 10 of its employees who secured top-place finishes in the race across various categories.
Qatar International Petroleum Marketing Company (Tasweeq) organised activities and tournaments highlighted by the announcement of the winner of its company-wide ‘Steps Challenge’ in which all employees tracked their steps daily from January 29 until the Sport Day.
Having walked 351,716 steps, Capt Yasser Behiry won the challenge.
Over 100 employees and their families from Qatar Fuel Company (Woqod) and its affiliate company Qatar Jet Fuel QJet participated in a fun bicycle tour.
The ride on Celebration Road was organised by Qatar Cycling Federation, with the support of police and Ambulance services.
Staff of International Bank of Qatar (ibq) took part in the annual 3km Sports Day Race organised by QCB.
Four ibq staff were named winners in various categories of the race.
Oryx Rotana Doha sponsored a healthy breakfast for 3,000 participants in Doha Dash held at Losail International Circuit.
It also hosted fitness activities, including Fitness 20 and Zumba, in its Fitness Centre and the hotel lobby.
The Supreme Education Council (SEC) prepared 11 sports centres for Independent schools for various activities.
Students, parents and teaching and administrative staff from the schools took part.
