Doha, Qatar: The President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani has crowned the winners of the final races for adult and young camels categories at the conclusion of the annual purebred Arabian camel racing festival for the Sword of HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
The event was held Thursday at Al Shahaniya racetrack, with broad participation from Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
He awarded the winners of the six main final races for adult and young camels (general races) for the camels of tribal owners with silver prizes.
The silver sword went to Ali Khalifa Ahmed Al Mansoori, owner of the camel Najah, after winning the Open Female race.
The silver medals were also presented to Saeed Mohammed Rashid Al Suwaidi, owner of Fajer, after winning the adult camels Omaniyat race, and Khalid Hassan Nasser Al Kubaisi, owner of Barq, following his victory in the young camels race.
HE Sheikh Joaan also awarded three silver daggers to Saeed Mohammed Rashid Al Suwaidi, owner of Qamar, for winning the young camels open race; Faisal Rashid Ahmed Al Thani, owner of Thuraya, for winning the adult camels Omaniyat race; and Mansour Ahmed Khalifa Al Obaidli, owner of Sahim, after claiming victory in the young camels race.
