DOHA: As part of efforts to rationalise consumption of utilities, Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding with Ezdan Holding on cooperation in achieving aims and objectives of ‘Tarsheed’, a national campaign to improve water and energy efficiency.
Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of Ezdan Holding Group, and Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, Chairman of Kahramaa, signed the deal.
The ceremony was held on the sidelines of a press conference in which both sides stressed keenness to collaborate to promote the application of a sustainability plan and improve efficiency through the rational use of electricity and water. The agreement is part of the social responsibility scheme deeply entrenched in Ezdan Holding Group’s activities in addition to training courses and awareness campaigns to endorse events related to Tarsheed.
Sheikh Khalid expressed his commitment to support all initiatives that serve the community, and said: “Ezdan Holding Group started its journey more than 50 years ago, it was a small project, but through hard work and perseverance it has become a huge business entity that owns and manages dozens of successful projects across the country.
“Tarsheed was launched as an idea and a small initiative intended for a better future for our children and to maintain ideal environment; after two years of hard work under the motto ‘To keep Qatar vibrant’, the programme has become of vital importance to us. It is our common goal to protect the environment, preserve our energy sources and rationalise consumption to pave the way for a brighter future for the coming generation.”
Al Kuwari said: “The MoU will give us the floor to work effectively to achieve our common goals in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 to reach comprehensive and sustainable development and transform Qatar into a modern, advanced country at all levels.”The Peninsula
