Champs Al Rayyan suffer first defeat

Defending champions Al Rayyan suffered their first defeat at the GCC Volleyball Club Championship when they fell against Dar Kulaib of Bahrain at Ali bin Hamad SC Al Attiyah Arena yesterday.      
The Qatari club which won back-to-back matches lost the match 3-1 with a 25-16, 15-25, 25-22 and 25-22 score-line.
On Saturday night, Al Rayyan came on top in the tussle for supremacy between two Qatari clubs registering an emphatic straight sets win over Al Arabi 25-21, 25-23, 25-19.
The defending champions Al Rayyan had begun the defence of their title on a victorious note on Thursday as they walloped Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal 3-1 (18-25, 30-28, 25-18, 25-18) while Al Arabi, who lost their opening day match to Al Salam of Oman, recorded their first victory, a 3-0 win, against Al Ain of UAE on the same day.
Al Rayyan will face Al Ahli (Bahrain) in their next game tomorrow .
