Thirty students from Qatar Technical School recently visited the Department of Central Laboratories at the Qatar General Authority for Specification and Standardisation in order to know more about the nature of the work of the Authority.
The students were accompanied by a number of their teachers, and the visit included all sections and technical departments at the Department of Central Laboratories at the Qatar General Authority for Specification and Standardisation.
The aim of visit was to get acquainted with the nature of the Authority’s work and to identify the equipment and technical fields they are studying and to find out the technical capabilities and devices available at the Authority’s laboratories and the technical work prospects of them.
The official in the Authority explained to the students the administrative competencies of conducting research and studies related to the methods of examination and testing of goods and products.
They also explained the standards for precious metals such as gold, silver and precious stones in accordance with the regulations and systems followed, and coordination with accredited laboratories on providing services in this field.
Regarding the cooperation with accredited laboratories, the Authority officials gave explanation to students about the technical cooperation with local and foreign laboratories to exchange information and provide services related to examining and testing goods and services and their quality level or their conformity with the approved standard specifications, in accordance with the applicable regulations and systems.
Students also got ideas about inspection and testing reports for goods and products issued by the Qatar General Authority for Specification and Standardisation, in addition to providing support for research activities and providing technical and analytical consultations in the field of examination and analysis.
The students also visited the Electricity Laboratory, and praised the great role the Department of Central Laboratories at the Qatar General Authority for Specification and Standardisation plays in the Qatar.
