Doha: The Kuwaiti official spokesperson of the National Guard announced that personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit of the Engineering Battalion successfully extracted and destroyed parts of a drone warhead in accordance with approved technical procedures after it had fallen into a fuel tank.
In a statement, the National Guard explained that after receiving a report of the incident, the EOD team immediately proceeded to the site and conducted a technical inspection.
It was found that the drone’s warhead had fallen inside the tank without detonating, which posed a significant technical challenge due to the nature of the location and the presence of petroleum materials and chemical vapors, according to the statement.
The statement noted that the operation lasted seven consecutive days, during which the tank was completely emptied and all necessary technical measures were taken to ensure the safety of the team.
The statement emphasised that the success of the operation reflects the high level of readiness and professional capability of the Engineering Battalion in handling complex and hazardous situations.
The National Guard also affirmed that the operation was carried out in coordination and cooperation with the relevant military and security authorities in the State of Kuwait, contributing to the protection of lives and property and strengthening public safety and security.
