DOHA: The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has started implementation of the Clinical Information System (CIS) at Al Shahaniya Health Centre.
The system will enable doctors to have access to patients’ medical records from any facility of PHCC and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).
Al Shahaniya is the fifth facility to introduce the system after West Bay, Al Daayen, Al Gharafa and OBK health centres.
Mariam Al Hamadi, Executive Director, Corporate Communications and PR, PHCC, said some delays in patients’ registrations and appointments are expected during the first stages of implementation. However, this will be resolved easily by the staff, she added.
Al Hamadi confirmed that the new system will facilitate an easier access to patient files and ensure a loss-free record.
“Through CIS, priority will be given to patients who need urgent care and others will be scheduled to the first available slot,” she said.
Khamis Al Khaldi, Chief of the Western Region, PHCC, said the system is part of the National Health Strategy launched in 2011 to provide an integrated healthcare system in the country in cooperation with PHCC and HMC.
Lamya Al Barghouthi, CIS Manager, PHCC, said the system aims to guarantee efficiency and speed in medical procedures and reduce risks of repetitive examinations and prescriptions.
Dr Khalid Shams, Director, Al Shahaniya Health Centre, said priority for urgent cases will improve access to services and decrease unnecessary visits by patients whose cases are not serious.
“This will, in turn, enhance patients and customers’ satisfaction,” he added.
