The 13th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Sunday unanimously elected HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior as its Chairman.
HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister expressed thanks to the participant for the faith reposed in him by choosing a chairman of the conference. He called on them to consider the reports of the consultations which preceded this session.
For his part, the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Yury Fedotov congratulated HE the Prime Minister on his election as the Chairman of "this important conference", expressing faith that the conference will be successful under His Excellency's chairmanship.
Participants in the 13th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice have elected, the Bureau of the Conference, and adopted its rules of procedure. They also adopted documents of the consultations that preceded Conference.
During the opening session, documentaries on the Doha Youth Forum on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, and the history of the UN Conferences on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice were screened. (END)
