Doha: Qatar University College of Business and Economics (QU-CBE) has launched a new Master of Science in Marketing which begins this Fall.
The first-of-its-kind MSc programme in Qatar will provide students with an advanced theoretical foundation in marketing and help develop their research competencies, including techniques of data collection and analysis.
A distinctive feature of the programme is the student/corporate mentor activity in which classroom knowledge is applied through field experience at companies in the business sector.
The two-year programme offers a focus area in sports marketing as it aims to align with national ambitions to advance a vibrant sports culture and the positioning of Qatar as a key international sports destination, primary of which is the hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
It offers a thesis track and a practical skills track. The first is to gear students towards research on consumer attitudes and behaviour and covers domestic, regional and international marketing issues. The second aims to equip students with skills and know-how on the processes and approaches to marketing by leading companies in Qatar and prepare them to assume senior managerial and leadership positions in various areas.
Dr Nitham Hindi, CBE Dean, said: “This is a timely development at the college as it continues to seek ways to contribute to labour market needs for professionals in business. The degree adds to a growing portfolio of graduate programmes at the college and demonstrates our commitment as a key partner with organisations throughout Qatar to contribute to the national development strategies.”
Prof Belaid Aouni, CBE Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies said students will gain experience needed across the employment spectrum in government, industry, business, media, sport, academia, and civil society.
