Sri Lankan community organises Iftar

Doha: Clean Nation, a Sri Lankan community organisation recently organised a Iftar gathering at Qatar Guest Center Tent in Asian Town for its community members. The Iftar was attended by Qatar Puttalamese an expatriate organisation represents a north western district in Sri Lanka - who acknowledge their commitment to serving the community. 

Since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, Qatar Guest Center tent in Asia Town has been receiving fasting people to have Iftar meals. Qatar Guest Centre receives 100 visitors daily over the holy month. The tent serves hot Iftar meals, dates, water, and juices supplied by EID CHARITY. In coordination with the Religious Guidance Section at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, educational lectures and religious sermons are delivered every day by experts and sheikhs who advise participants on health, social and spiritual topics of concern.

During the event, Clean Nation explained their activities in Sri Lanka to the participants and they were told that they were actively involved in serving the Sri Lankan community.   

Isham Marikar of Clean Nation delivered a keynote speech under the topic of “Need of good young leaderships”. And, about the event he said: “This event is a way for us to unify and come together as a community, and to support one another. It is extra special this year since this is our first time after two years of pandemic shutdown.” Clean Nation also shared the opportunity with workers from Sudan, Nepal and India expatriate communities to break the fast. The event was supported by Sri Lankan Community Welfare Federation along with Silent Volunteers and Qatar Puttalamese.
