DOHA: Hosts Qatar bagged a rich haul of 14 medals to finish second at the Karate International Championship which concluded at Al Rayyan Stadium here yesterday.
Tunisia topped in the two-day championship, organised by QKF in which around 150 contestants from 18 countries took part.
Tunisia bagged four gold, two silver and six bronze to finish with 12 medals to take the top honours.
The local fans had much to cheer about as the Qatari contingent won three gold, two silver and nine bronze.
Turkey came third with three gold, two silver and a lone bronze medal. Jordan and France finished in the fourth and fifth place respectively. Qatar gold medals came in the Cadet Male Individual Kumite -70kg category with Abdulbaari Mohammed displaying quick reflexes to outwit his rivals.
Abulaziz and Adham Abdulnasser Hashem won the other two gold medals for Qatar.
Dalloul won the Senior Male Individual Kumite -75 Kg, Hashem finished first in the Senior Male Individual Kata Qatar other medal winners included Karim Taher (silver) and Sami Samour (bronze) in Cadet Male Individual Kumite +70kg, Ahmed Malik (bronze) in Cadet Male Individual Kumite -57kg, Oussama Er Raji (bronze) in Cadet Male Individual Kumite -70kg, Maurya Subby (bronze) in Junior Male Individual Kumite +76kg, Khalid Ahmed (bronze) in Junior Male Individual Kumite -76kg, Reem Ryad Ahmed and Hayati Maryam (both bronze) in Senior Female Individual Kata, Aangi Mohammed Ahmed (bronze) in Senior Female Individual Kumite +68 kg, Abdelhamid Shawish (bronze) in Senior Male Individual Kata.
