Qatar Railways Company to have more powers

Doha: The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani chaired the weekly Cabinet session at the Emiri Diwan yesterday.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud said the meeting took measures to issue a draft law excepting the Railway Network Project from the application of the provisions of the Law No 4 of 1985 on the organisation of buildings after being briefed on the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the draft law.
Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) will have powers granted to the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning under Law No 4 of 1985, in relation to works of the project, issuance of licences for works, project areas of protection, determining requirements of granting and renewal, taking legal procedures, supervising and controlling them and issuing regulations in coordination with authorities.
The Cabinet approved its draft decision extending exemption of Ras Girtas Power Company from income tax. It also approved a draft decision of the Minister of Economy and Commerce setting maximum prices of some goods for Ramadan.
The meeting endorsed the addition of a representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports to the permanent committee on drugs and intoxicants, and the national committee on traffic safety. It approved a monthly bonus for the chairman and members of the steering committee of e-Government and the national committee on information security. 
The steering committee at the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology will follow up on implementation of the e-Government’s strategy and coordinate with concerned entities.
The national committee is responsible for developing a strategy for implementation of policies and information security standards in state institutions, and supervising the security of information technology infrastructure.
The Cabinet discussed a letter from the Minister of Justice on the ministry’s views about a draft law to amend provisions of attorney law No 23 of 2006 and took decision. QNA
