An  image made by an astronaut aboard International Space Station and released by Nasa yesterday provides a panoramic view of most of the Red Sea. The northernmost end, the Gulf of Suez, is at the top centre. The Nile River snakes its way northward through the Sahara Desert on the left and a dust plume surges out over the sea, reaching most of the way to Saudi Arabia.
