SEOUL: Daewoo Engineering & Construction (Daewoo E&C) has been awarded the largest-ever power plant order from Morocco, Yonhap News reported.

South Korea’s Daewoo E&C said Monday it had signed the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the Safi Independent Power Project worth about 1.9 trillion won or $1.7 billion in Morocco on August 9.

The project is the largest ever that the company has thus far secured overseas.

Safi Independent Power Project is a private financing project which is to build 1,320 MW coal-fired electrical power plant and additional facilities 15 kilometers off the coast of Safi, Morocco.

The company solely clinched the EPC deal from a private partner Safi Energy Company and will work on it for 46 months after the groundbreaking. (QNA)
