Kabul: The Chinese national found alive after Thursday’s attack in central Kabul had escaped and received help from US troops, the Chinese embassy said in a statement carried by the state-run Xinhua news agency yesterday.

Three Chinese nationals were killed and two had gone missing in the attack. Later, one of the missing Chinese was found alive and moved  to a safe place by the embassy.

According to the embassy, the Chinese man was forced into a car driven by Afghan nationals heading out of Kabul in the wee hours of Friday.

The man untied himself and jumped out of the car and reached a nearby US military base for help.

US troops offered assistance and took him to the embassy.

Search for the other Chinese was still underway.

The five Chinese are self-employed business people. The motive behind the attack on their apartment in the Afghan capital is still unclear. Agencies
