DOHA: Efforts are on to ensure GCC citizens spending time in jail in another GCC state as convicts or undertrials are freed as part of pardon announced by the member states.
The GCC countries announce pardon for prisoners on certain occasions every year like their National Days or Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha.
The undersecretaries from the GCC Ministries of Justice met in Kuwait yesterday and decided to pursue the matter. It will be tabled for approval at a meeting of the justice ministers in Kuwait next month, reports QNA.
Recommendations also included submitting a draft agreement to the GCC Justice Ministers’ Council on the extradition of accused and convicts within the GCC states. Several other issues were discussed at yesterday’s meeting, including  a unified real estate registration law for the GCC states. The meeting decided to ensure that it is implemented after being approved by the ministers. the peninsula/QNA
