DOHA: Al Shahaniya is banking on a two-week break in Qatar Stars League (QSL) action to kick-start their campaign on a fresh note when they take on Al Kharaitiyat in a round-three match today.
Al Shahania head coach Miguel Lotina said: “Honestly these 15 days has been very good for us. I know we are the last team to play but we are very well prepared and our players are very eager to get started.
He added: “We have an advantage because we have seen all of our opponents and they haven’t seen us play yet. This gives us a slight tactical advantage. We have a good group of young players and their enthusiasm is very encouraging.”
He explained: “With regards to our opponents, they have more experience so the pressure is on them, we have nothing to lose. We are aiming to stay in this division and I will try my best to guide and train the players.”
Al Kharaitiyat head coach Bertrand Marchand said: “The two-week break gave us a lot of time to prepare and so we took this time seriously, we are ready and excited to face a newly-promoted team to the league. I think we still have a lot of areas to improve in. The last match we made things difficult for ourselves. We worked on some things in training and so hopefully we will be better in our match this Friday,” Marchand added. THE PENINSULA
