DOHA: The demand for tents is growing as the camping season starts in less than a week. Stores selling tents that are taken to the desert, say prices range from QR1,200 to 6,000.
According to shops selling tents, prices haven’t varied in comparison to last year. Ibrahim Abdullah Al Jaida, owner of a tent shop, said sales have grown because the season is going to start. Customers are mainly youngsters who are very enthusiastic about enjoying natural landscape.
People buy tents with the following sizes: four by four, four by five and five by five. Some people purchase six by six and five by eight tents as well.
At least one customer bought three tents of different sizes. These customers use the small ones for storage, the second one for sleeping and the third one to gather the family and watch television.
Patrons have less space to place their camp, in comparison to last season. Experts say that the tents with best qualities are from Pakistan.
While other materials tear easily, Pakistani tents can be put away after every season and used for several years. Nevertheless, customers select other types also, such as plastic or regular, among others.
Sales manager Al Jabarti adds that tents with high demand are the four by six royal tent, which costs QR2,800, and the PBC tent, which is waterproof. The PBC tents also have high demands because it is easy to set up and store and light to transport.
