Japanese music troupe to perform today

Doha: A prominent Japanese musical troupe “Japan Music Project” will give a concert of Arab music at Qatar National Theatre at 7:30pm today under the patronage of H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage. 

  Some of the performance will be in collaboration with Arab musicians (Marasi Ensemble) from Qatar Music Academy, who will perform on traditional Arab instruments such as the Ud, nay, qanun.

The entry is free and the gates will open at 6:30pm, a statement from the Japanese embassy said. 

The “Japan Music Project” headed by YAS-KAZ (Percussionist and composer) is visiting the Gulf region including Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, with a message of friendship between Japan and the Gulf countries, wishing for peace, happiness and prosperity for all through musical performances using various musical instruments such as Drums, Shakuhachi, Oud and Koto.
