Officers from the Coasts and Borders Security Department who have completed the training recently.
DOHA: Around 50 officers from the Coasts and Borders Security Department recently completed the First Responder training, which covered critical first aid techniques and was conducted by experts from the Ambulance Service and the Hamad International Training Center (HITC).
The course included rescue first aid, life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in addition to theoretical lectures and practical demonstrations.
The unique training programme also included a week of “on the job” training with the Ambulance Service paramedics to see how these skills are used in the field and in emergency situations.
Director of the HITC, Dr Khalid Abdulnoor Saifeldeen said the graduates are now able to use their skills as “First Responders” in emergency situations. “HITC and HMC are pleased to share our knowledge and experience with our colleagues from other organisations who respond to emergency situations,” he said. “We are committed to providing the best patient care nationwide and I am delighted to see the Coasts and Borders Security Department’s commitment to help us extend that care offshore.”
Brigadier Ali Ahmed Al Badeed, Director of Coasts and Borders Security said it was the third First Responder course to be held in cooperation with HMC and HITC.
“Those officers who participated in this course and the two previous ones are now better able to classify and manage injuries offshore, while making sure the patient reaches the shore safely,” he said.
