Pakistan to host Commonwealth session next year

ISLAMABAD: Over 200 parliamentarians from 53 counters of the Commonwealth unanimously chose Pakistan as the venue of 61st Conference of Commonwealth Parliamentary Assembly (CPA) in Yaounde, Cameroon at the concluding plenary of the 60th CPA.
According to a message received here from Cameroon, the occasion witnessed Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq being elected as the president of the CPA for the year 2014-2015.
Sadiq was escorted to the president’s chair amid dancing and singing of the African and Caribbean delegates, especially the parliamentarians of South Africa, Malta, Tanzania, Swaziland and others. He thanked the delegates for their overwhelming support to the Pakistani proposal and assured the Conference of his Parliament’s best efforts to make the 2015 Conference a success.
Earlier, Sadiq made a presentation on the proposal to host the Conference in Pakistan, which was followed by a short documentary, especially prepared for the occasion. In his speech, the speaker said the holding of the 61st Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Pakistan will be yet another great boost for the democratic forces of Pakistan.
Drone strike kills 4 in Afghanistan
Kabul:  At least four suspected militants were killed following a drone strike along the Durand Line yesterday.
According to Pakistani intelligence officials, the air strike was carried out near the Tirah valley of Khyber Agency, Khaama Press reported.
The officials further added that several suspected militants were also injured following the drone strike which targeted militant hideouts in Cancharo Kandoa area.
According to the Pakistani officials, the village is located right on the zero-line but the area where the militants were targeted falls under the Afghan jurisdiction.
The identity of the militants killed or injured in the air strike has not been ascertained so far.
The Durand Line refers to the 2,640 kilometres long porous International border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
