DOHA: Al Sharq newspaper yesterday announced its decision to host the third edition of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award. The winners will be honoured  at an event to be held on December 7.
Addressing the media at Qatar Chamber (QC) here, the award committee chairman Sheikh Thani bin Ali bin Saud Al Thani and Al Sharq’s Editor-in- Chief Jaber Al Harmi said this time they are expecting the participation of a bigger number of companies and government entities, compared to the previous years.
“At least 55 companies from different sectors, including the government entities, took part in the previous year. Of them 10 eligible companies were honoured. As we have made the procedures more smooth, we are expecting the participation of more companies this year”, Sheikh Thani said.
Jaber Al Harmi said the initiative is to encourage Qatar’s business sector, government and social institutions to adopt international best practices. Al Sharq is happy to announce that we have been receiving an encouraging response from the companies and government entities to the event. He thanked the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and Qatar Chamber for extending their support to the event.
“In 2014, when we announced the initiative for the first time the huge response from companies surprised us. The number of entries grew in the second year. The support from Qatar Central Bank and Qatar Chamber added the credibility of the Award.”
