ANBAR, Iraq: At least 11 people were killed and 15 others were injured Wednesday during a suicide attack in Iraq’s western Anbar province, an Iraqi commander told Anadolu Agency.

The suicide bomber blew himself up in a café in Hit district of the province, Brigader General Settar al-Hamed said.

A temporary curfew was declared in the area, he added.

There was no claim of responsibility for the bombing.

Iraq has suffered a devastating security vacuum since mid-2014, when IS captured the northern city of Mosul and overran large swathes of territory in the northern and western parts of the country.

According to the UN, more than 3.4 million people are now displaced in Iraq -- more than half of them children -- while more than 10 million are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.
