Doha: DPS-Modern Indian School (DPS-MIS) culminated Rendezvous 2020-21 with the online ‘Result Declaration Ceremony’ on October 6.
This year, keeping the present condition in mind, the annual inter- house activity fest was conducted online during the summer break in order to provide effective avenues to the students to channel their holiday energies and maintain the learning momentum.
The occasion was graced by Principal Asna Nafees, Vice-Principal Senior Secondary School Soma Bhattacharjee, Vice-Principal Senior School Mary Cruz, Vice-Principal Junior School Shifa P Shaikh and Headmistress Junior School Sini Menon. Nafees commended the efforts of the students and the teachers in the successful execution of the events.
All the activities and ceremonies are conducted with great élan as per the year planner, providing holistic development to all the enthusiastic students. She also expressed her gratitude towards the management for their continuous support and valuable guidance.
Soma Bhattacharjee congratulated all the team members and extolled the students for their ‘enthusiasm to participate’. She also highlighted the importance of collaborative team efforts in the successful completion of an event of such magnitude. Mary Cruz inspired the young minds with her words of wisdom and mentioned that such competitions develop life skills and prepare the students for their future endeavours.
Fourteen competitions for the Middle School and 18 competitions for the Senior School which included events like Poetry writing, Story Writing, Poster Making, Spell Bee, Scavenger Hunt Debate, Group Dance, Digital Logo Designing, App Development, and Acapella were organized using Zoom or Microsoft Teams platforms.
Rules and regulations for the competitions were laid and shared with the students by the respective house wardens, which ensured smooth functioning of the events online.
The participants from all the four houses – Lily, Lotus, Tulip and Rose left no stone unturned to add on to the winning streak of their houses.
Tulip House emerged as the winner in the Middle School, whereas Lotus House topped the medal tally in the Senior School. However, on compilation of the results of both the sections (Middle School and Senior School)
Tulip House bagged the first position followed by Lotus House, Lily House and Rose House for the second, third and fourth positions respectively.
The ceremony concluded with the DPS-MIS United Rendezvous Band video. It was anchored by Arya Kanade, Head Girl and Mohak Vaswani, Head Boy under the able guidance of Bhattacharjee, Activity Coordinator( IX to XII) Priti Ketanbhai Modi and Activity Coordinator ( VI to VIII) Chinmayee Pathak. The vote of thanks was proposed by President of Student Council Girls Anushka Jain and President of Student Council Boys Moussab Zaz.
The cultural bonanza was a thumping success and would remain etched in memories forever.
