Doha: Qatar's national Olympic football team will take on its Australian counterpart Thursday in an international friendly at Al Arabi Club's Grand Hamad Stadium.
The game comes as part of the two sides' preparations for the U-23 Asian Cup, which will be held in Doha on January 12-30 and whose first three finalists qualify for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. The team will play another friendly on November 17 against Cote d'Ivoire.
In its most recent game, the team beat UAE 5-2 in a friendly at Lekhwiya Club's Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.
Qatar Olympic team was drawn in Group A of the Asian Cup alongside China, Syria and Iran, while the Australian team plays in Group D along with Jordan, UAE and Vietnam.
Qatar has previously won the Asian Games in 2006, which was held in Doha, beating Iraq 1-0 in the final.
