The organising committee of the 49th CISM World Military Shooting Championship review the arrangements of the upcoming championship to be held at Losail shooting Range from tomorrow to November 19.
The various organising committees formed for the smooth conduct of the 49th CISM World Military Shooting Championship met here to review the arrangements made for the nine-day meet which begins with opening ceremony tomorrow.
Organisers informed that shooters from most of the countries have reached Doha.
Kuwait and Oman were the first to reach Qatar for the championship which will see over 700 shooters taking part from 50 countries.
Qatar along with China have the highest number of shooters, 29 each taking part in the event which will be contested in both the men’s and women’s sections.
The shooters will compete in six categories in men's section and an equal number in the women's section.
The championship is organised by Qatar Armed Forces and some of the top shooters who have won Olympic medals and have been world champions will be turning out for their respective military teams. This is the second time Qatar is hosting a major military shooting championship.
In 2013, Qatar Armed Forces in collaboration with CSIM had hosted the Second CISM International Shotgun Championship at the same venue. The last World Military Shooting Championship took place in South Korea in November 2015, while Switzerland had the honour of hosting the top military shooters a year earlier.
Qatar having delivered a perfect show in 2013 is keen to host the best world championship this year too and have formed various committees for hosting the championship.
Around 17 committees have been formed under the main organising committee for the smooth conduct of the championship, informed officials.
The opening ceremony will be held tomorrow at 3.30pm, while the closing ceremony will take place on November 19, informed the organisers.
