Doha: In collaboration with FIFA, Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) and Generation Amazing, organised a regional training course on “Football for Schools”.
The course is a part of Qatar Foundation’s agreements signed with Generation Amazing and the FIFA to provide a range of initiatives in the field of football that will continue after the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 to empower the youth and different community members in Qatar.
The Football for Schools programme, which is managed by the FIFA and supported by a contribution from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), aims to educate and empower globally about 700 million child in the age range between 4 to 14 years. The teachers, community leaders and coaches will be able to use football to raise children’s awareness and improve their skills through the application of the Football for Schools programme.
Also, Qatar Foundation, in collaboration with Generation Amazing, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy’s Humanitarian and Social Legacy Program, is contributing to enhance the knowledge about the values of sustainability and building more inclusive communities through the program’s digital application, which was launched in Qatar on March 2022, in addition to more than 135 countries around the world.
After the launch of the application in Qatar, a training session was conducted at the Education City Students Centre at Qatar Foundation and attended by members of the West Asian Football Confederation, the North African Football Confederation, teachers and trainers from several countries included Lebanon, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, and other countries.
The Executive Director of Generation Amazing, Nasser Al Khoury, said “The app aims to empower the teachers and make education through football as an essential part of study curriculums in the state of Qatar.
He added “Our efforts with Qatar Foundation and the FIFA have resulted in the creation of a core database of football modules for development, where it enable the teachers in Qatar to use it to create practices on the training sessions and tutorials that focus on the value”.
On the other hand, the Technical Director at the Lebanese Football Association Bassem Mohammed, a former teacher of physical education at the Beirut Modern School in Lebanon, said: “Everyone in the society have the right to play football without regards to their age and social status, including individuals with special needs”.
Bassem who is using the application which was launched in Lebanon three years ago, pointed out that the programm e aims to include football as a part of the educational curriculum through providing schools with the necessary equipment and fittings.
He added: “The application of football for schools enhances the skills of the teachers, by providing a ready-made training curriculum which includes 8 to 12 training sessions per month. Where the teacher downloads the program and records the age group of students and their numbers, to get a written and technically designed classes”.
He stressed the fact that, one of the most important objectives of the “Football for Schools” programme is to enable the child to acquire basic skills in football under realistic conditions, through a systematic, well-structured and smooth classroom without any complications.
