Doha: Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) recently launched the first phase of the redesign and replacement of some works at its distribution substations  at Souq Waqif.
The project comes within Kahramaa’s plans to develop and upgrade the electricity sector and to ensure the highest security and safety standards at electricity distribution institutions on cultural sites in particular.
The project includes the redesign and replacement of some works at distribution substations in Souq Waqif.
Kahramaa teams have completed studies and surveys and set up a plan to disconnect substations in coordination with operation and maintenance engineers.
The project consists of three phases covering 10 substations.
The first phase has started where readymade elements are being installed for basements, ceilings and walls.
For safety measures, work sites are surrounded by metal fences bearing all safety instructions.
Advertisement banners have been fixed on the fences to reflect Kahramaa’s care for the cultural aspect of the souq.
Kahramaa is the sole transmission and distribution system owner and operator for the electricity and water sector.
