​Over 230 new Aids patients register

ISLAMABAD: The Centre for Treatment and Prevention of Aids at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital in Islamabad registered as many as 237 new Aids patients in 2013.
According to the latest official hospital data, the total number of patients registered at the centre since its establishment in 2005 with HIV and AIDS has reached 1,683. A total of 257 new patients were registered at the centre in 2012.
“Of all the patients so far registered with the centre, as many as 691 are on anti-viral treatment while during 2013 ten died of the disease,” said Deputy Director at PIMS Dr Wasim Khawaja.
