DOHA: Qatar University (QU) yesterday announced details of its research agenda and accomplishments in research on several issues.
Interdisciplinary projects centred on four areas of excellence in research — energy, environment and resource sustainability; social change and identity; population, health and wellness; and information, communication and technologies.
QU Vice-President for Research Dr Hassan Al Derham told a press conference that QU continues to advance its research plans as outlined in its strategic plan to become a leader in research in the region and to contribute to a research culture in Qatar.
He pointed to the quality of research conducted by QU faculty, experts, and students and said, “QU continues to be top winner in the award cycles of the National Priorities Research Program (NPRP) and the Undergraduate Research Experience Programme (UREP) under Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF). In the sixth NPRP cycle, QU researchers won 63 awards out of 137 proposals which translate to about 46 percent of total awarded proposals, the highest among awarded institutes”.
