LONDON: Two 12-year-old girls who went missing after walking to a bus stop in north London have been found safe and well, Scotland Yard said. Wiktoria Popiel and her friend Vitalija Sidlauskaite were missing for nearly 20 hours after they failed to return home from the Wood Green area of north London on Saturday night.
Popiel had been walking her friend Sidlauskaite to catch a bus on Lordship Lane, a busy main road near the White Hart Lane football stadium, but failed to return home.
They were found safe and well by police officers in north London on Sunday lunchtime, Scotland Yard said. The police force said they would release more information when it became available.
Earlier, police described their disappearance as “completely out of character” for both girls, who have never gone missing before. Officers were particularly concerned given the cold conditions overnight in north London, but there was no suggestion that the pair had come to any harm. The Guardian
