French stand to hold book signing sessions

DOHA: Book signing sessions will be held at the French stand (B54) at the 25th Doha International Book Fair at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).
World-renowned French mathematician Cédric Villani will be at the booth tomorrow from 4.45pm to 5.30pm for a signing session.
Villani is the author of Living Theorem (2012) and The House of mathematics (2014) and Director of the Institute Henri Poincaré and Teacher at the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1. 
An analysis specialist, he has worked on problems from statistical physics (Boltzmann equation, Landau damping), optimisation (optimal transportation problem of Monge) and Riemannian geometry (synthetic theory of the Ricci curvature).
He will hold a conference on popularisation of mathematics entitled ‘Mathematic of the Bats’ tomorrow at 6.30pm at Katara Drama Theatre, Building 16.
Qatari poet, playwright and actor Mirza Ali Al Mulla will hold a signing session and lecture in French and Arabic on Friday from 6pm to 7pm.
The Guest of Honour at Sète International Poetry Festival (France) in July this year, Al Mulla was director of the National Theatre of Qatar and editing director for the Qatari television. He also worked at the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage and the Ministry of Health. 
He has published three poetry books: Wishes time of silence; Dreams of awakening; and Departure in the eyes of memory.
The French embassy and the French Institute of Qatar in partnership with the FNAC bookstore are taking part in the fair.
A large number of books in French are accessible at the French booth, including newest releases and literary award winners for children and adults, the latest and the best of French and Francophone children’s literature, great classics of French and Francophone literature and learning books on French language.
