Doha: The Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari yesterday left for Riyadh for the 19th session of the ministers in charge of cultural affairs in the Arab world. The meeting under the theme ‘Arabic language as a starting point for human cultural integration’ includes four main aspects. The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation has prepared the session’s document, including 15 studies by Arab experts.
SCH: ‘Offensive’ products recalled
DOHA: The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) said yesterday that some products of a European company have been recalled from the local market for displaying ingredients not permitted in the country. Descriptions on the packets include “rum flavor” and “liquorice flavor”, which many customers found offensive and misleading. The products were imported for Supreme International, the SCH said in a statement yesterday. Laboratory tests of samples, however, proved that the products meet Qatari specifications and are safe for human consumption.
629 commercial licences issued
DOHA: The Commercial Licensing and Registration Department at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce issued 629 new licences last month, down 14 percent from the previous month. The highest number — 279 — were issued in Al Rayan, followed by Doha City with 239 or over 82 percent of total licences last month, said a release. The department completed 1,129 registrations (570 headquarters and 559 branches), down 2 percent from the previous month.
