Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, affirmed the need to intensify regional and international efforts to ensure the consolidation of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to transition to the second phase of the deal, during their phone conversation, Tuesday

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Abdelatty stressed the importance of the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of the Strip, the launch of early recovery efforts, and the start of reconstruction.

He also reaffirmed Egypt's rejection of any measures or practices that could undermine the unity of the Palestinian territories, including the ongoing Israeli violations in the West Bank.

Regarding developments in Sudan, the Egyptian Foreign Minister underscored the importance of pushing toward a humanitarian truce leading to a comprehensive ceasefire, stressing the need to preserve Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and to support its national institutions.

Abdelatty also highlighted the importance of providing the people of Sudan with safe havens and ensuring their unrestricted access to humanitarian assistance.
