Together against a vice spreading globally

May God the Almighty protect us from homosexuals, who blatantly voice their demands in the West. Recognition of same-sex marriages and adoption of children by gay couples have become the most controversial ethical issues in the West.

In France, for instance, thousands of pro- and anti-gay marriage demonstrators rallied in connection with a bill that would allow gay marriage.

We are at a turning point in our conservative Arab societies, which could be affected by this raging fire in the West.

It is essential that our young people be protected against this vice, which is proscribed by all monotheistic religions. As prevention is better than cure, casting light on this issue will stave off any possible perils.

The majority of the public across the world opposes same-sex marriage bills. Three British Muslims who handed out flyers calling for the killing of homosexuals were condemned for hate speech. The flyers featured a hanged dummy. It read, “all homosexuals will go to hell”.

Pope Benedict XVI said in one of his public addresses that same-sex marriage “threatens the family to its foundations”.

French writer Simone de Beauvoir once wrote that “one is not born, but rather becomes a woman”.

US President Barack Obama, who is partly of Muslim origin, boldly announced last May his support of gay marriage to remain in the White House for a second term, in contrast to the conservative nature of Americans.

In our conservative society, we avoid getting into a debate over this issue. Our religion, Islam, is a fortress that will protect our children from this vice. However, shutting our eyes to it will not do us any good. We all should combat this vice in our schools and homes.
