DOHA: The Cabinet yesterday approved its draft decision on setting up an ad-hoc committee for heavy transport.
The panel will be established at the Ministry of Transport and will be in charge of studying matters related to heavy transport.
The weekly Cabinet session, chaired by the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, also approved the Cabinet draft decision for the issuance of the Cabinet’s inner regulations.
Regulations includes rules related to Cabinet meetings, its modus operandi, preparation for each meeting and discussing topics referred to the it.
According to regulations, the Cabinet has the authority to form permanent or provisional committees to study these topics and ministries are required to submit quarterly reports to the Cabinet on implementation stages of their plans and programmes and any obstacles impeding implementation and necessary best solutions.
The meeting also approved Cabinet’s draft decision to amend some provisions of decision No. 10 of 2007 for establishing the National Committee for Civil Aviation Security.
The amendment provides for reforming the committee which will report to the Minister of Communications on its works and refer it to the Cabinet.
The Cabinet reviewed a letter from the Qatar National Committee for the Prohibition of Weapons (QNCPW) concerning the 27th report of the committee’s works during September-December last year and took the appropriate decision.
The report said QNCPW has prepared Qatar’s report for 2013 on the execution of the UN programme of action to combat illicit trade in small arms and light weapons. The Cabinet also approved a draft agreement on air services between Qatar and Malawi. QNA
