These days are witnessing a fast pace in road maintenance — perhaps to indemnify previous delays in changing roundabouts to new traffic signals and signals to intersections to supplement the great number of traffic lights across Doha.
We may describe the movement as “active”, as if it is trying to beat whatever preceded it and working hard to improve services.
We can celebrate another new achievement that lies in a signal on the Corniche that still suffers traffic jams outside the former Ministry of Information building.
Even when considering the completion of any project, you may say some phases are weaker than others. Why? Are problems related to contractors?
If we considered that possibility, why is the same contractor or contractors are invited to a new tender and given a new contract? Does this mean that there is no competition or standards to differentiate between bad and good contractors? Or things sometimes turn personal to justify or cover negativities of missteps in work or the absence of punishment and reward?
Lots of talks, or “compliments”, get “pass with the laundry”, as you may say these people are not related to what is being written about them, and they like to see others writings about them, especially if they are praising them. This is one of the negative aspects of a situation, because it stops them from learning and correcting their status, while this misplaced praise misleads them.
However, the table has flipped, and things have become more like “dishwashing”, and it indisputably affects negatively. Some do not like being criticised but some cases must be clarified, even if they get annoyed with it. Therefore, no need to write about the same issue repeatedly because already people know about that.
Renowned Qatari artist Helal Mohamed died a few days ago, he was a friend who used to shine in the Qatari and Arabic drama, on television and radio and in theatre. He carved a niche for himself in his field, promoted art and took part in many works. His fans grieved so much for him.
May Allah have mercy on his soul, rest it in peace and grant his family and friends patience and fortitude. To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
Some people wash each other’s dishes, they don’t do it properly, and do that at the expense of public interest.
